The AB 1440-SDM02-01RA module is an XM-124 standard dynamic
measurement module. It is a machine condition monitoring and
protection device that is used for measuring the dynamic parameters
of rotating machines such as the vibration, pressure, strain, and
position parameters. Other applications include non-contact eddy
current probes, standard integrated electronics piezoelectric
(IEPE) accelerometers, velocity transducers, AC voltage output, or
DC voltage output measurement devices. The 1440-SDM02-01RA XM-124
standard dynamic measurement module can also be connected to a
tachometer input for speed measurement and order analysis
functions. The outputs include digital measures, a DeviceNet
network, two 4 to 20 mA rated analog outputs, and one onboard
relay. One of the most important features of the module is the
onboard processing of critical vibration parameters that allow the
XM-124 module to act independently if configured to do so by the
users. Integrating the module with the plant’s automation and
control systems is the usual procedure that is implemented in the
majority of applications to avoid failures.
To install the AB 1440-SDM02-01RA XM-124 standard dynamic
measurement module, a DIN Rail-mounted base unit that is known as
the XM-940 dynamic measurement module terminal base is needed
because it provides the necessary wiring terminations for all the
field connections required by the XM vibration modules. The XM-124
modules are installed on the XM-940 terminal base by using a key
switch and a 96-pin connector. All of the electronics required for
performing the measurements and using the built-in processors,
relays, and serial interface ports for local configuration are
contained in the AB 1440-SDM02-01RA XM-124 standard dynamic
measurement module when it is using the XM-940 dynamic measurement
module terminal base as a physical connection terminal only.
