The 1746-A13 SLC 500 I/O Chassis by AB is a modular chassis which accommodates SLC 500 Processors and I/O modules and requires its own power supply which is mounted on the left side of the chassis. It has a maximum of 13 chassis slots which any 13 SLC 500 I/O modules can fit into and it has its own power source that can supply 5.1V DC at 10A and 24V DC at 2.88A of backplane power to any processor or I/O modules that fills the 1746-A13’s slots.

The backplane power on the 1746-A13’s chassis has a load-dependent maximum hold-up time between 20ms and about 3s and the chassis also uses a 120-240V AC power supply that is selectable using a jumper setting. The 1746-A13 has LED light indicators which give a quick and comprehensive power status and it uses the Panel Mount mounting style. It has a 0-60 °C (32-140 °F) operating temperature range at 5-95% non-condensing humidity and it can be stored at a temperature between 40 °C and 85 °C (-40 °F and 185°F). The 1746-A13 weighs approximately 1.9kg (4.2lbs) and has shipping dimensions of 50.2cm x 17.1cm x 14.5cm (20.1in x 6.8in x 5.8in).
