1. Can I replace the probe inside the housing without shutting down the machine?

A: Yes — one of the major advantages of the housing is that it allows access to the proximity probe and its extension cable without full machine disassembly.
However, you still must ensure that clearances, alignment and mounting integrity are preserved when you do the replacement.

2. Can I use this housing in an explosion-proof application?

A: No — the 31000/32000 housing is not listed as explosion-proof. The datasheet states: “The housing… is intended to provide mechanical and environmental protection only.” If an explosion-proof housing is required, you must use the alternative

models (such as the 21000 or 24701 series) that are rated for that.

3. What probe is installed/compatible?

A: This variant uses option “28” which corresponds to the 3300 XL 8 mm probe with connector and multiple approvals.

The housing is built to accommodate that probe cable length of 0.5 m in this variant.
You must ensure that the probe itself is compatible with

your monitoring system.

4. What environmental or material benefits does this model offer compared to older all-metal housings?

A: The 31000/32000 series uses PPS thermoplastic material rather than all-metal, which offers higher

corrosion resistance and more flexible mounting options. Also, the datasheet emphasises that

these are suitable for intrinsically safe hazardous area use (when paired with

the correct probe/extension/barriers).It retains compliance with

API 670 for externally mounted probe housings.
