1. What is the primary purpose of the probe?

Designed for non-contact eddy-current measurement, it monitors both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) parameters

relative to conductive surfaces—particularly in rotating machinery and fluid-film bearing applications.

2. How interchangeable and compatible is it?

Components from the 3300 XL 8 mm system—including probe, extension cable, and Proximitor sensor

—are fully interchangeable and backward-compatible with older non-XL 3300 series (5 mm and 8 mm) components.

3. How does the probe handle pressure and leakage?

A Viton® O-ring seal is used between the tip and probe housing to seal differential pressure. However,

Bently Nevada does not replace probes under warranty due to leakage, and users must manage risks if fluid leaks occur.

4. How is the probe used within API standards?

The 3300 XL 8 mm system is designed to meet API 670 (4th edition) for mechanical configuration,

linear range, accuracy, and temperature stability—making it suitable for industrial vibration monitoring systems.
